University of Colorado Boulder Students put 4X to the Test

See video

We took our 4X Concentrated Liquid Laundry Detergent on the road and had college students from University of Colorado Boulder put it to the test. We had them make some seriously ucky, gucky stains -- Ben & Jerry’s chocolate ice cream, cranberry juice, tomato sauce -- and do a full load, Seventh Generation style.

This little powerhouse-in-a-cardboard-bottle got an A+ and proved to be a well-rounded hit with the students. They liked the smell, and were surprised & delighted when their clothes came out sparkling white.

Impressive BUT

I, too, would like to see set in stains like grease, oil, and blood. Most of what we have around here. Was great seeing guys actually doing laundry though. lol also would like product available in to buy in more local areas. how about offering free samples to try. social security limits your funds severely.

It's no joke.

I have super sensitive skin and it's hard to find something that doesn't give me a rash or cause itching. We were using another eco brand, but our store was out once so my husband grabbed the Free and Clear. He was busing at a local restaurant after school. Now, I've never worked at a restaurant, but everyone I know who has comes home stained and oily and constantly complains of the "kitchen" smell that never leaves their clothes, my husband was one of those people. After our first load of work clothes, he fell in love with Seventh Gen because that "kitchen" funk was no more! He told anyone who would listen and even converted his older brother over. Seventh Gen Free and Clear is now our new brand. How can I not like something that makes my husband want to do laundry?

Willing to give it a try...

I am not convinced by this video. As others have stated, these 'stains' were not set in or dried stains. I don't know too many people who wash clothing immediately upon getting a stain. Rinsing out with plain water immediately is likely to get similar results. Would like to see results of dried stains- dried grass, blood and oil-based stains. Still, I would try this product once if I could get it for a reasonable price.

Free and Clear

This detergent may not get every dried on stain out of my clothes, but they offer the free and clear, which I have to use. It is the best detergent without fragrance on the market!

Seeing is believing.

used 7th gen for a few years now

for whatever reason, even scented 7th generation laundry detergent does NOT get smells out of my clothes. clothes still smell musty, or like deoderant, or sunscreen, after being washed and dried. i use the detergent to be earth friendly, but most of my son's and husband's clothes have stains that do not come out in the wash with this detergent. =(

Never too late to start

Want to encourage people new to Seventh Generation to try the products! There are so many bad habits that are hard to change, but this is an easy one.

I have been buying Seventh Generation since 1993-4. The manufacturers started changing commercial detergents at that time and I was getting eczema. I had a hard time finding anything. I found SG referenced in a local guide and had to mail order it--by the case. Now, it is so easy...go buy it at Target!

This new formulation looks great but isn't readily available in our area. I will look for it. Small quibble with the video producers for next time: Please show some stains that are "set" for a few days and show them come clean.

Huge Fan!

I have used Seventh Gen products for about a decade, and I love everything they make, especially Baby Diapers, wipes, and I only use their dishwashing liquid and dishwasher detergent. I am so glad to see this great company become so successful!

Thank you Target!

For those of us who live rurally, Target is the only retailer in our area who carries the new 4X.

it wiill be good to show a clean clothe, but it has to be dirty like 2 days before it will be clean, because i think that it will be even better, so people can stsr using seventh generation.
